No, thanks. I’m not a Cinderella. And don’t try to make me one. I’ll not be judged merely by my appearance or so called good virtues of a ’Sanskari girl’. As far as beauty is concerned, it lies in the viewer’s eyes. I’ve not only got a beautiful heart, but an exceptional brain also.
I’m a grown up. I can take care of myself. I’m independent enough to look after myself. I don’t need a prince charming to appear from nowhere and elope me on that royal horse along with him to some far away fairy land, which is supposed to be a happy ending.
I don’t need someone just for my security. It’s a mutual relationship. Please keep me away from this age old virtues, in which the only ambition or settlement of a girl’s life is getting married to a well settled handsome boy and the only motive would be to please him by your looks and in return he will take care of you, provide you the so-called security for the entire life.
I’m myself. I’m comfortable in my own shoes, not Cinderella’s. I’m proud of whatever I’m. Are you?
I’m totally with you on this. ‘Please keep me away from this age old virtues, in which the only ambition or settlement of a girl’s life is getting married to a well settled handsome boy and the only motive would be to please him by your looks and in return he will take care of you, provide you the so-called security for the entire life.’ This says it all so well. Loved reading the tale of the modern-day Cinderella. We may be princesses but of our own lives. We’re not showpieces for someone to handle with care.
Loved this. Kudos for writing it.
Thanks a ton for giving it a read and the comment. Yes, we are here not be decorated as showpieces but to be celebrated. So, let’s celebrate ourselves.
So true! I’m glad someone thought of writing a book like Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls…so the next generation has better role models to aspire to be.
‘Good night stories for Rebel Girls’, that’s indeed an interesting title for a book to be published.
Thank you Mahak☺️
I agree with you, no one wants to be a Cindrella in this day and age. When I narrated the story to my 6 year old, even she found it funny.
Yes, that’s true Anshu. Now-a-days, kids are very smart. They simply don’t take up any story for granted.
A perfect post on feminism. Well done. V is for change. Do have your say on my post as well. Have a nice day 🙂
Thanks a lot.
Have a great time.
